I know this is petty, but the word “thong”, pronounced “tong” (as in the kitchen utensil) is the Thai word for gold. Thai differentiates between the T like in “stay” and the T in “time”, the latter is romanized as TH (like Thai itself). Thai doesn’t have the English TH sound like “the”. I know this is even more petty, but shifting tone, “thong” can also mean stomach.
