“Sunlight filtering down through the trees made me feel relieved.”

I don’t see anything wrong with that sentence. Maybe it belongs in a bad design site, but there’s nothing wrong with the English.

John Denver originally wrote “Sunlight filtering down through the trees made me feel relieved.” After much trial and error he decided on the more aesthetically pleasing and concise “Sunshine on my shoulder makes me happy.”

Sunshine filtering down through the trees may make him feel relieved, but I usually relieve myself down under trees.

When you have a catheter, you pretty much don’t really know when you’re relieving yourself. Ergo, you are always relieved.
