In the japanese they admit it’s going to take until march 15, 2022! Or am I reading those numbers wrong?

First, the lower part is not Japanese, but a (slightly weird) Chinese translation.
In the Chinese version, it uses the Japanese system for indicating years which is called an “era name” (one name for one emperor; it has been 22 years since the current emperor ascended the throne in 1989, hence the number).
Meanwhile in the English version, it uses the “Christian Era” (Common Era).
